Westlea School Pupils Meet Her Majesty the Queen

Siena and Annabelle had the honour of representing Westlea's Pupil Librarians at Shirehampton Primary School yesterday. This was organised through the 'World of Stories' programme, who are also responsible for providing us with all the new books that have been added into the library recently.

Siena and Annabelle travelled by train to Bristol, where they met up with various other schools that are part of the programme. They met authors Cressida Cowell (How To Train Your Dragon) and Malorie Blackman (Pig Heart Boy), who spoke about their love of reading and what their dream library would look like. They were then given the opportunity to design their own dream library - this included a swimming pool (with waterproof books), fairy lights, a reading den inside a tree trunk, and a shelf dedicated to each author.

The event was then visited by Her Majesty The Queen, Camilla, who spoke to the children about what they would include in their dream library. They had a fantastic time and finished the day off with a coronation party and cake.
